Before we get started on how to read your dog's food label, lets talk about who regulated pet food.
Pet food is regulated by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
According to the definition on their website, the AAFCO "provides a mechanism for developing and implementing uniform and equitable laws, regulations, standards and enforcement policies for regulating the manufacture, and distribution and sale of animal feeds."
Thier board consists of state and federal representatives... it is not a governmental body and also includes people directly involved in the industry.
This website is phenominal. Everyone who owns a dog, and feeds their dog a type of kibble (regardless of grade) should read this website for a thorough understanding on how to read a dog food label.
