How to greet a dog kindly and respectfully...

It amazes me to watch how people greet dogs, whether it be their own, or others'. It is often a jaw dropping experience for myself as I observe the invasion of space, lack of respect, and complete unawareness of the whether or not the dog reciprocates in the same manner.

I came across an artist who makes digital prints of people's pets, and in one of her posts she shared this cartoon drawing:



One day, I would like to document short video clips of people petting dogs, those that are familiar to them and unfamiliar to them and you will see why "greetings" result in so many dog bites..... because they are threatening to the dog when not done properly.
