Pawduct of the week.... DNA test for Dogs

Are you a proud parent of a mutt? Would you care to know what your mutt might be?

A simple DNA test can help you determine your dogs' breed composition. There are several different DNA tests for dogs, none of which I have first hand experienced, but know many of our clients have used them with accurate results.

Owners swab the inside of their dog's cheek and then mail it to the company. Within 6 - 10 weeks (ranging), owners find out who really their four legged mutt is.

It would be interesting to see the role these test play in court regarding breed banning and dangerous dog ordinances.

Here they are:

DNA Diagnostic Center: $68.00
Parentage testing, dog breed DNA testing, inherited traits testing, inherited disease testing, DNA profiling

DOG-DNA: $119.95
Prices include lab processing, shipping, handling charges, and the certificate of DNA Breed Analysis

Canine Heritage: $71.95
Covers 100 breeds

AKC DNA Testing: $40

Do you or anyone you know have a dog that has been DNA tested for breed information? Send us your dog's photo and the results, we will use them to run a contest on our blog. Send your information to: info@doglando.com.
