Fastest, Safest & Healthies Weight Loss Program_Dogs

What is the best way for my dog to loose weight? Recently, this seems to be quite a poplar question for me..... I am glad many pet owners recognize their dogs are overweight and want to do something about it.

The obvious, is implementing a daily exercise program.... aside from your daily strawl around the block. Now the problem here lies that it requires for you to take your dog. We all know how that goes:)

I strongly believe the healthiest, fastest and safest way to get weight off dogs is to put them on a raw diet. Feeding raw has its own benefits to your dog's health in terms of their kidneys and liver not having to work as hard to flush out all the toxins, chemicals, and fillers in commercial grade foods. But as for feeding raw to reduce weight, within two-three weeks you will see your dog's drop weight drastically.... but it is healthy weight loss.

I define healthy weight loss by:

1. Dog has lost steady weight daily.

2. Dog's appetite has not increased. Dog feels content.

3. Dog's stool remains healthy. It may not be rock hard, but it's not supposed to be rock hard anyway.

4. Your dog is more upbeat and feeling great about himself/herself.... trust me you will be able to tell.

5. Your dogs will be more active, less prone to arthritis and hip/elbow dysplasia.

Doglando and Groom Grub and Belly Rub sell several different types of raw foods. Our favs are Raw Health and Primal.

If you can not afford to feed raw long term, use it to bring your dog's weight down and than manage his/her weight by feeding better quality kibble in small portions.

I would recommend Natural Balance, Orijen, Acana, Evo, Taste of the Wild, Merrick, or Innova as a healthy kibble diet. These are also available at Doglando or Groom Grub and Belly Rub.

I'm a huge fan of the raw diet, but for some reason Grady can't tolerate it. The first dog I've ever tried to use it on and failed. =( The holistic vet says he has too much damp in his system and the raw food makes his skin break out even worse. I agree with Teena though! I've seen several dogs switch over to a raw or partially raw diet and make dramatic improvements in all sorts of areas! Grady is definitely an anomaly.
